What? Daytrip 9am-3pm bring your own canoe, kayak or SUP or reserve a seat in one of our hand-crafted cypress-strip voyageur canoes! (No previous experience necessary in voyageur canoe) Be prepared for long-distance paddle in variety of water conditions.
Meet: 9am
Ross Barnett Reservoir Dam
(North side Parking lot with boat ramp)
On water by 10am. 11 mile downstream paddle from Dam to May’s Lake Landing (LeFleur’s Bluff State Park) Wild free-flowing river with gorgeous sandbars, bayous and wetlands to explore along the way. April brings plentiful songbirds, raptors, butterflies, and newly flowering and leafing foliage. This is one of the most sparkling fresh & beautiful times to paddle the Pearl. (Note: there are very few signs of the urban environment along the way besides a few extraneous city noises!)
Lunch stop 12noon -- bring your own lunch, snacks and beverages. Also, don’t forget to pack drinking water, sun screen, sun hat, bug dope, towel and river shoes. Dress for weather. We will go rain or shine!
Take out 2-3pm
Everyone to share shuttling (to be arranged on site). Bring your own canoe or kayak or SUP. No charge. OR -- reserve an open seat on one of the Quapaw Canoe Company cypress-strip voyageur canoe. Available for anyone who wants to join in the fun -- $35/person includes life jackets and paddles. No previous experience necessary. No age limit. Up to 10 people per voyageur canoe (we’ll have 2 big canoes). Contact john@island63.com for details or call 662-902-7841.
