St. Louis to Gulf (1154 miles)

Not for the faint of heart. This expedition requires weeks of planning, open water canoeing experience, and the dedication to camping for about 6-weeks. Those who are willing to surmount those obstacles are rewarded with a life-changing experience and a deep appreciation of America’s River.

Week 1: Tower Rock, Cape Girardeau, MO, Cairo, IL, and the confluence of the Ohio River
Week 2: New Madrid, Caruthersville, MO, Chickasaw Bluffs
Week 3: Memphis, TN, The Muddy Waters Wilderness, Helena, AR, Confluence of White and Arkansas Rivers.
Week 4: Greenville, MS, Entering Louisiana, Vicksburg, MS
Week 5: Natchez, MS, Old River Control, Mouth of the Atchafalaya, Baton Rouge
Week 6: Chemical Corridor, New Orleans, LA, Venice, LA, Head of the Passes, Gulf of Mexico

Experience required

Moderate canoe experience preferred. Must be an experienced camper, comfortable with primitive camping for long stretches.

Trip Notes

Downstream trips require a shuttle for an additional fee/person.

Quapaw Canoe Company will provide canoes and all safety gear, as well as dry bags for each participant.

Quapaw Canoe Company can provide lunches, dinners, and breakfasts for each day of the journey upon request, for an additional fee/day. Meals are cooked fresh on an open fire.

In addition “Expedition-style” trips, due to their nature will be completely custom and require more advanced planning, and coordination. Get on the calendar early!
